FAQs

  • I work with small to mid-sized nonprofits across the social impact sector—organizations where communications teams are stretched thin, often reporting to non-communications leaders, and juggling competing priorities with limited resources.

I also work with larger social impact organizations that need extra senior-level capacity to take on special projects. With me in their corner, they know things will get done reliably and with an incredibly high degree of quality. I’m the director-level clone they wish they had.

  • You get Director-level expertise at a fraction of the cost of a full-time salary and benefits. (It’s actually less than the salary of junior team member.) The support is flexible and scales based on your priorities and budget. You get strategic leadership and direction without paying for administrative tasks, plus I bring fresh perspective from working across multiple organizations and sectors. There are no recruitment delays—we can start building momentum right away.

  • Maybe you've noticed your team is always busy but it's hard to see the strategic impact. Or you're not sure your external audiences really understand what you do and why it matters. Perhaps you've realized that every department has a different story about your organization, and none of them quite align.

You know communications should be a strategic asset, but right now it feels more like a bottleneck. Your team seems overwhelmed, and when you try to help by asking for a strategy, you get a list of tactics instead.

The problem isn't your team. The problem is they're trying to be strategic without the infrastructure that makes strategy possible. They are under pressure to deliver for your entire organization, without the resources to strategize. They are stuck in a cycle of reactivity.

If this sounds familiar, then fractional communications leadership might be right for your organization.

  • Fractional communications leadership engagements are structured as monthly retainers based on scope and hours. Most organizations invest between $4,000-$7,000 per month for 8-16 hours per week of Director-level strategic leadership and hands-on support.

We'll discuss your specific needs and budget to design an engagement that works for your organization. All engagements require a minimum six-month commitment to build momentum and see real transformation.

  • Yes. Fractional leadership often works best when you have someone executing day-to-day communications but they need strategic direction, coaching, and support. I can provide the Director-level leadership and oversight that helps them—and your communications function—thrive.

  • I can help. I take on special projects when you need some extra strategic capacity—whether that’s a messaging refresh, ghostwriting for your executive team, or developing an issues management framework. I can move important work forward without adding to your team’s overwhelm.
